About me
Ashlee Russell is the founder of AI Learning Central and a faculty member at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she teaches first-year seminar courses focused on information literacy and ethical AI use. With nearly two decades of experience in K–12 education and instructional leadership, she partners with school districts, universities, and community organizations to support research-informed, human-centered approaches to emerging technologies.
Ashlee’s work centers on strengthening college readiness, metacognition, and durable skills in both secondary and postsecondary settings. She has collaborated with Fayetteville State University’s Intelligent Systems Lab and Cumberland County Schools to design cross-sector initiatives that expand instructional capacity and build sustainable university–district partnerships. Her professional learning models emphasize coherence, leadership alignment, and practical application in early college and dual enrollment environments.
A former district instructional leader and Cumberland County District Teacher of the Year, Ashlee is known for translating complex shifts in technology and workforce demands into actionable strategies that preserve rigor and improve student outcomes. She regularly presents at regional and national conferences on instructional innovation, college readiness, and future-ready learning.Her work is grounded in the belief that strong partnerships and intentional instructional design can prepare students not just to earn college credit, but to thrive in postsecondary settings and an evolving workforce.
