I started my teaching career way back in 1989 as a middle school language arts teacher in Tarboro, NC. Along the way, I taught in Buncombe and Cabarrus Counties before moving into school administration in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools for 17 years. I retired with 25 years in the school system in 2023. Since then, I have worked with the UNC Be CALM Team as a trainer for our fantastic program while supporting schools in curriculum delivery, school-wide implementation, and building wellness among our schools' perennially over-burdened staff.
Talk to me about:
- How principals can care for their staff;
- Dismantling systems in a high school that hurt the traditionally marginalized;
- Mindfulness.
- Be CALM at your school.
