About me
I have dedicated 24 years to public education within the Catawba County and Iredell-Statesville School Systems, serving students, families, and educators through a variety of leadership and support roles. My professional experience includes two years as an elementary school counselor, ten years as a middle school counselor, and ten years as an elementary assistant principal, providing me with a comprehensive perspective on student development, school leadership, and whole-child support. I joined Challenger Early College High SchoolIn 2010, I earned National Board Certification in School Counseling and renewed this certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2019. My work has been recognized at both the district and state levels, including being named Catawba County Schools Secondary Counselor of the Year and North Carolina Middle School Counselor of the Year in 2012–2013, as well as Catawba County Schools Assistant Principal of the Year in 2023.I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Human and Community Services and a Master of Arts in Community and Agency Counseling with School Counseling Licensure from Lenoir-Rhyne University. I also earned a post-master’s certificate in Advanced School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a School Administration add-on licensure from Appalachian State University.My passion for education was shaped by my family’s emphasis on service and the influence of my high school counselor, who helped guide my path into the helping professions.
