Tuesday June 9, 2026 10:45am - 11:45am EDT
Student performance rightfully consumes us, but as state tests have fallen away from certain subject areas (and the data that came with them), how do we measure and track growth?  What is a student's role in that processs?  I have done my best to investigate best practices and have started exploring ways to help students monitor their growth in the hopes of starting a cycle of empowerment and reflection.

Bucking the Trend: Increasing Dual Enrollment in a World of Declining High School Populations
Tuesday June 9, 2026 10:45am - 11:45am EDT
In upstate New York, as with many parts of the country, public school enrollment has dropped 5-10% over the past decade. This session will highlight how Hudson Valley Community College defied the odds, achieving a 62% increase in annual dual enrollment over the past five years while transforming the DE experience for high school students. HVCC's College in the High School Program serves as a model for embedding holistic advising and student support directly into all aspects of the enrollment process. Attendees will get an inside look at how HVCC works with its 30+ district partners to provide 1-on-1 advisement opportunities, develop degree pathways specific to each school's student interests, and streamline every step of the enrollment process using the Canusia platform. The result? A sharp increase in program enrollment, improved credit completion, and expanded degree attainment for Dual Enrollment students.

Are you ready to help your students become the leaders they were made to be?

We believe students are ready for more! More responsibility, more opportunity for impact, and more ownership of the school environment.

The key to leveraging the power of student leadership lies in inspiring our students to believe they can lead, equipping them with research based leadership skills, and empowering them to lead within their school community.

We will reflect on case studies of how 3 schools across 3 states have done that during the 2025-2026 school year.

You'll also get to experience 2 of our signature leadership development activities which you can use to cultivate leadership among your students!

Future Ready Dual Enrollment Strategy: Lessons from Early College
Tuesday June 9, 2026 10:45am - 11:45am EDT
Dual enrollment participation is growing, yet access and outcomes remain uneven, especially for students who can benefit most from a clear, supported pathway into college and careers. Early colleges offer a proven model for how strong partnerships, defined pathways, and integrated supports can drive student success. Using North Carolina's Career and College Promise (CCP) program as context, this panel will explore how school and district leaders can apply these lessons to build a coordinated, strategic portfolio of dual enrollment options where early colleges and other models work together to expand opportunity and improve outcomes for all students.

From the Ground Up: Reinventing Early College for Sustainable Success
Tuesday June 9, 2026 10:45am - 11:45am EDT

It’s Not Just One More Thing – It’s EVERYTHING: Aligning Connections, MTSS, and Personal Adult Advocacy to Support Every Early College Student
Tuesday June 9, 2026 10:45am - 11:45am EDT
Early Colleges offer both a powerful opportunity and a complex challenge: ensuring every student is truly known, supported, and monitored across four years and multiple college pathways. At Challenger, we meet this challenge through a cohesive support system that intentionally aligns our Connections seminar course, MTSS, and Personal Adult Advocate (PAA) model. Connections is a credit-bearing course taken every semester, designed with a tiered curriculum that builds college-ready and life-ready skills while monitoring academic and social-emotional growth. Each student is paired with a Personal Adult Advocate from before ninth grade through graduation, creating continuity, mentorship, and proactive intervention. This session explores how this integrated model strengthens equity, reduces fragmentation, and ensures no student slips through the cracks.

Empowering Future Ready Learners with Global A.C.T.I.O.N.
Tuesday June 9, 2026 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT
Future readiness requires more than academic proficiency. Students must be able to navigate diverse cultures, collaborate across differences, apply learning in authentic contexts, and lead with curiosity and confidence.

• MCP builds independence, mastery, and ownership.
• Global Education expands students’ perspectives and cultural competence.
• Experiential Learning connects classroom learning to real‑world challenges.
• A.C.T.I.O.N. provides the schoolwide culture and habits that sustain these practices.
• The Portrait of a Graduate defines the competencies students develop through this ecosystem.

This session helps educators envision how these elements work together to empower early college students academically, socially, and globally.

Teaching Critical Thinking in the Age of AI: Using AI Responsibly to Develop Critical Thinkers and Writers
Tuesday June 9, 2026 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT

Teaching Critical Thinking in the Age of AI: Using AI Responsibly to Develop Critical Thinkers and Writers

Students can now generate an essay in seconds. So, how do we ensure they are still doing the thinking?

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly common in schools, educators face a new challenge: helping students use AI as a tool for learning instead of a shortcut around it. The question is no longer whether students will use AI, but how we can design learning that encourages them to think critically, write authentically, and maintain ownership of their ideas.

In this session, participants will explore practical, classroom-tested strategies for using AI to strengthen critical thinking, support meaningful revision, and amplify student voice. Through classroom examples, student work samples, and guided discussion, attendees will examine how AI can be used as a tool for inquiry, reflection, feedback, and analysis while keeping students at the center of the learning process.

Participants will discover ways to design assignments and writing experiences that require students to evaluate information, justify decisions, critique AI-generated responses, and engage in deep thinking that leads to stronger writing and deeper understanding. The session will also address responsible and ethical AI use, including academic integrity, bias awareness, transparency, and preserving student ownership of learning.

Attendees will leave with practical resources, classroom-ready strategies, and a framework for integrating AI in ways that maintain rigor, foster critical thinking, and empower students to become thoughtful, responsible communicators in an AI-rich world.

Building on What Works: Evolving Early College Instruction for an AI- Enabled Future
Tuesday June 9, 2026 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT
Craven Early College integrated AI literacy into its existing visible thinking framework to strengthen, not replace, rigorous, student-centered instruction. Through a phased professional learning model, faculty examined research on AI and learning, aligned their work with the North Carolina Portrait of a Graduate, and adapted thinking routines to support evaluation of AI-generated content and metacognition. Ongoing PLC collaboration and targeted workshops introduced tools such as Napkin, NotebookLM, Miro, ChatGPT for Educators, and Claude within a “learning levers” framework. The result is a practical, replicable model for instructional evolution that preserves academic rigor, supports equity, and prepares students for an AI-shaped future.

Building Intentional Dual Enrollment & Early College Policy & Programs: What Will It Take?
Tuesday June 9, 2026 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT
Research, policy, and practice in dual enrollment and early college are increasingly aligning around a central priority: in order for students to realize the most benefits possible out of college courses in high school, programs need to be structured and provide students with intentionally designed college course experiences aligned to their postsecondary or career interests and trajectories. But that's easier said than done! The College in High School Alliance is working on developing a new framework for intentional dual enrollment, and we want to hear from you: what is it going to take to build dual enrollment and early college programs that give every learner the opportunity to advance their postsecondary and career trajectory, and ensure that students are always having meaningful college course experiences in high school?

The results show that the Early Colleges have improved students’ course-taking and success for all students, but the impacts are larger for underprepared students. The analyses of classroom observations and interviews with mathematics teachers reveal that instruction in the ECHS displayed a mix of traditional approaches and rigorous student-centered instructional practices.
